Climate and Weather

Motorcycle Tours Thailand run their tours in the Thai cool season which starts after the end of the rainy season around the end of October.

MCTT run tours from November to the end of March

Thais divide the year into three seasons:
Tthe cool season, November to February,
The hot season, March to May and
The rainy season June to October.

For most westerners, this translates to "hot," "really hot," and "really hot and wet." Temperatures rarely drop below 25° C

The favourite time for visitors is winter (November-February) when temperatures drop to a pleasant hot, with bright sunshine and clear blue skies.

We run our tours from November to the end of March.
The weather can sometimes feel cool on the tops of the mountain passes and during the first couple of hours in the morning.
In the mountains, the use of an extra layer is sometimes needed in the evenings. The rest of the time it feels quite warm.. hot

During the Thai "winter" it very rarely rains, any showers will be short and pass over quickly.

The Country side is green and lush especially in the early part of the winter after the rainy season with spectacular scenery. There are also many simply breathtaking sunsets to enjoy.

What to Wear

Light cotton clothing is best

Don't worry about bringing too much clothing with you, as almost everything can be purchased locally, most things are cheaper you will pay at home. Do remember that the tropical sun can be quite fierce so a hat is useful, and don't forget to use a good sun screen. shorts are comfortable when not riding but long trousers offer more protection from the sun. T shirts are good and a long sleeved shirt offers more protection.

Shorts sandals and T shirts are fine in the day time if we are not riding bikes, a pair of jeans, socks and shoes are better at night to save having your ankles bitten by Mosquitoes. Dark colours attract mosquitoes its better to wear khaki or green.
